The Ambassador
HER EXCELLENCY AMBASSADOR ABIGAIL NAA ADZOKO KWASHI
H.E. Amb. Abigail Naa Adzoko Kwashi was appointed Ghana’s second resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway on 24 June 2024 by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. H.E. Amb. Abigail Kwashi succeeds H.E. Amb. Jennifer Lartey, with the latter having served from March 2019 to March 2024.
Amb. Abigail Kwashi has been a Civil Servant in the Civil Service of Ghana since October 1991. She first served in the Office of the PNDC (later becoming Office of the President, upon transition to democratic governance) from October 1991 to August 1994.
In August 1994, Amb. Kwashi was posted to the then-Ministry of Works and Housing. Amb. Her time at the Ministry of Works and Housing afforded her the opportunity to travel to every part of Ghana, mostly in relation to rural and small town water supply projects under the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, and the Ghana Water Company.
In August 2004, Amb. Kwashi joined the Ministry of Regional Cooperation and NEPAD (the New Partnership for Africa’s Development), with secondment to the Governing Council of the National African Peer review Mechanism (NAPRM-GC), the implementing arm of NEPAD in Ghana.
In 2006, the then-President of Ghana took a strategic decision to merge the Ministry of Regional Cooperation and NEPAD with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a result of the 2006 merger, Amb. Kwashi became a staff of the Foreign Ministry of Ghana, thus a Foreign Service Officer.
During her time at the Foreign Ministry, Amb. Kwashi has served in various roles, including being a Director of the Administration and Human Resource Bureau, and occupying the position of Director of the Estates and General Services Bureau.
Amb. Abigail Kwashi has also served in Ghana’s Diplomatic Missions abroad, such as the High Commission of Ghana in Windhoek, Namibia; the Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo, Japan; and the Embassy of Ghana in Madrid, Spain.
