Notification on the passing of Ghanaian Government Officials and Opening of a Book of Condolence

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Oslo presents it compliments to the General Public, and regrets to announce the tragic loss of two Government of Ghana Ministers and six other individuals, following a fatal military helicopter accident on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The Government Ministers were the Honourable Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Honourable Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed (MP). Accompanying the Government Ministers were Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO); Squadron Leader Peter Anala of the Ghana Air Force; Flying Officer Tsum Ampadu of the Ghana Air Force; and Sergeant Ernest Addo of the Ghana Air Force.

In this moment of grief for the Government and People of Ghana, the Embassy wishes to inform that a Book of Condolence will be open from Wednesday, 13 August 2025 to Friday, 15 August 2025, 10:00a.m. to I •00p.m., at the Chancery of the Embassy of Ghana, Akersgata 1-5, 0158 Oslo. Messages of condolence may also be sent electronically to the email address post@ghanaembassy.no.
